Rootbook Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 16, 2026
Rootbook: Plant Watering Log is an iPhone app made by swec.flow. This page explains what the app does with your information.
The short version
- Your plant names, watering log, and photos stay on your iPhone. We can't see them.
- Rootbook doesn't have accounts, ads, analytics tools, or in-app purchases, and it doesn't track you across other companies' apps.
- Rootbook doesn't send your data to us or to anyone else.
What Rootbook stores on your iPhone
- the names you give your plants
- your watering log (the date of each entry, and whether you watered or found the soil still damp)
- the photos you add, and the date each one was taken
- the times you made each change
Rootbook keeps all of this in its own storage on your iPhone. It doesn't have its own cloud backup, so the only copies are on your iPhone and in your iPhone's backups.
Camera and photos
Rootbook asks for camera access only when you tap Take Photo. You can turn it off in Settings > Rootbook.
When you choose a photo from your library, iOS shows its own photo picker, and Rootbook receives only the photo you pick. It saves a copy of that photo inside the app. Rootbook reads the date the photo was taken from its details, on your iPhone, so it can show that date under the photo.
iPhone backups
If iCloud Backup is on, or you back up your iPhone to a computer, that backup may include Rootbook's data. Apple or your computer manages that backup, and we can't access it.
Deleting your information
To delete a plant, open it, tap Edit, then tap Delete Plant. Rootbook removes the plant from the app and deletes its photos. The dates of its old log entries stay hidden in the app's storage until you delete the app.
Deleting the Rootbook app removes everything it stored on your iPhone. If an iPhone backup already holds a copy, that copy stays in the backup until you delete the backup or a newer one replaces it.
Apple
Apple runs the App Store under its own privacy policy at https://www.apple.com/privacy.
Apple may give us crash reports and usage statistics for Rootbook in a form that doesn't identify you. You can turn this off in Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements > Share With App Developers.
Our website and email
The Privacy Policy and Contact links in the app open pages on our website in Safari. Vercel hosts our website and may record technical details, such as your IP address, in its server logs.
If you email us, we'll use your address and your message only to reply. Google hosts our email.
Children
Rootbook is a general-audience app. It doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Your choices
Your Rootbook data is on your iPhone, under your control. If you have a question about your information, email us.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
